I don't think I have enough Peter tributes on this here blog. So, here are some reasons why he is the best boyfriend ever, in no particular order:
1.) Any red-blooded male who is willing to be in a transcontinental, long distance relationship for TWO YEARS (read: only gets laid every four to six months) is an absolute anomaly and must therefore be placed in a museum, or my back pocket, or in one of those commercials where the chick has herpes but the guy loves her anyway (I don't have herpes, btw. Uff da. That's one rumor that I do not need to start!).
2.) Last winter when I had the stomach flu and we were staying at his cabin with no running water, Peter held the bucket while I hurled, and then took the big steaming lot of it outside to dispose of in the snow. This is quite possibly the most romantic thing that anyone has ever done for me.
3.) While I have finally made my condo in Bangkok into a cozy little nest, it took me quite awhile to get there. There were just blank, white walls everywhere and the whole thing was a little sterile and depressing. Peter bought some paintings, and a Khmer musical instrument, and some beautiful picture frames, and a lamp made from handmade paper, and assembled everything/hung everything up, including the batik sarongs that we bought in Bali. "I want you to be happy here," he had said. Now there are beautiful colors everywhere I look, and everything on the walls reminds me of him.
4.) He spent hours and hours of his time finding the cheapest possible plane tickets for me for when I come back to the U.S. over Christmas. He then went ahead and booked my flights so that I didn't have to worry about anything.
5.) He packs a maximum of three outfits whenever we go on a trip anywhere. For some reason, I find this endearing and incredibly sexy.
6.) He loves to take candid photographs all the time. Now, I consider myself to be somewhat photogenic, and usually look better in pictures than I actually do in real life. However, Peter has managed to take the most hideously awful pictures EVER, where I'm scowling or srunching or having some sort of a facial seizure.
7.) He's from Wisconsin, which means that he was raised with the same kind of corn-fed, wholesome, Midwestern background that I was.
8.) He can solve a Rubix Cube in under a minute.
9.) He was a star at both academic competitions AND athletic competitions in high school.
10.) He was sweet to his mom.
My friend Kellyn has requested that Peter do another guest post this month (the last one can be found here), and that should be comin' your way very soon!
I love you, sweetie!!
